I just feel better being here. I didn't know that what I feel in my body or my thinking can make me feel badly about myself. I knew emotions were important but it is weird to now be able to feel them in my body and know how to talk to myself when I feel things or when things come up. I am not very good at it yet. See how I said "yet"?

It is like magic seeing things in my drawings. I never thought about doing art and just doing it. I think it is just relaxing and then when I look at things I make I feel that they are all telling me things……..I see the same things and writing in my journal about what comes up here is really helpful. Now when I am feeling off it's not so bad.

Hope Art Therapy in Peterborough, ON, is where Penny (Registered Psychotherapist) is supervised by Dr. Pati Beaudoin (Registered Psychologist) as she supports people of all backgrounds. As a professional art therapist with a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology, Penny provides a safe, supportive space for individuals, couples and families working towards improving their sense of self in the world and in relationship with others.  Penny supports the work of a variety of people who have mental health concerns.   She comes with a humanist perspective, integrating Gestalt and Buddistic practices to support people.  She works with a psycho-analytic understanding of the importance of the unconscious, subconscious and conscious staes of being, recognizing how they impact people's development over time.

As a dedicated and compassionate therapist, Penny brings a unique blend of professionalism and creativity to her practice. With a strong belief in the inherent capabilities of her clients, she empowers individuals, couples, and families to navigate and address their challenges. Penny's approach is distinguished by the integration of art and various therapeutic techniques, allowing for self-expression and healing in a supportive environment. Clients appreciate her open acceptance, quirky nature and genuine empathy.  She fosters a sense of trust and connection as she works together with her clients on their personal journeys toward growth and resolution.
